The laboratory was organized in 1992. Its present main academic research activities: Bionanocomposites prepared by means of novel developed methods: 1) biomimicking mineralization of biopolymers by silica or titania; 2) regulating self-organization of chitosan with oppositely charged nanoparticles Bimodal meso-/macroporous silica of SBA-15 type and its functionalization by matching of novel silica precursors Polysaccharide hydrogels formed mainly through polyelectrolyte complex formation by oppositely charged biomacromolecules Equipment: Multifunction Rheometer Mars III, Thermoscientific, USA Dinamic Mechanical Analyzer Mettler Toledo 681, Switzerland Small-angle X-ray diffractometer Hecus, Austria Spectrophotometer UV-2550 and Particle Size Analyzer IG-1000, Shimadzu, Japan Small laboratory equipment including pH meters, conductometer, ovens, dry boxes, magnetic stirrers, etc. needed for successful experimental work.
